Born and raised in the segregated south, Hershell West has made a successful career as an artist and arts educator. He is also a muralist with commissioned works from Florida to California and a leader in arts organizations. Excellent role model.

One of the few people of his Hmong community to have a college degree, Yang Xiong also has sobering stories to tell about escaping through the jungles of Laos as a child to leave behind a war. In California, he works with youth as a social service specialist.

A Roma (also called Gypsy) from Kosovo, Sani Rifati is a community activist and runs a non-profit to help Roma refugees in Europe. He also teaches Roma dance, and organizes festivals that showcase Roma culture.
